Gun Hill Road

For those of you that think they would never enjoy a movie about a transexual, go see Gun Hill Road IMMEDIATELY!!! Gun Hill Road was an amazing film about a man who was released from prison and came home to find that his son had become a she and his wife had been with another man. The film focuses on the man’s son (Michael) and his relationship with his father (Enrique). Director Rashaad Ernesto Green did a fantastic job portraying reality in the Bronx and the hardships faced by both an ex-con and a transexual teenager. With fantastic performances from both Esai Morales (Enrique) and Harmony Santana (Michael), I would be surprised if this film did not win the Sundance Audience Award. So far, this is the best film I have seen here at Sundance and one of the best films I have ever seen.

Fun Fact: We saw the entire cast at dinner last night, but didn’t know who they were at that point!! What a bummer! Also, I’d like to give a shoutout to Elon Alumn, Max Cantor who worked as a production assistant for this film!
